Besides waking up an extra 10 minutes early to warm up your
car (or watch ice melt – so thrilling), I’d have to say the absolute worst
thing about the winter season is having dry skin. I typically have
normal/combination skin that tends to be a little on dryer side, so winter can
be a little harsh sometimes. I have to go out of my way to make sure I stay
moisturized, and sometimes I’ll admit – it’s a bit of a pain. So if you've been feeling a little dry, stick around and see what kind of products I like to use to deal with it!
Face Moisturizer:
CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion
This is a year-round essential for me, and I cannot believe that some people don’t even use one! If you’ve never tried to moisturize your face after washing it, please try it and let me know how amazing your face feels. I use one of the most basic moisturizers for my face, which means it doesn’t break me out and is very lightweight. This bottle lasts me forever too!
Body Lotion:
Jergens Ultra Healing Skin Moisturizer
This one I’ll admit I get a little lazy with, but it’s an important step to get that moisture back into your skin – especially since showering often in the winter really dries out your skin. If you’re one of those morning and night shower people, please invest in a body lotion – your skin will thank you! Even if you’re a one a day – it’s always a good thing to moisturize.
Hand Cream:
Soap and Glory Hand Food Hand Cream
This little guy gets forgotten about a lot, but shouldn’t be! Think about how many times you wash your hands a day. Every time you do, your hands are getting dryer and dryer. Of course it’s important to wash your hands a lot in the winter, especially with all the germs surrounding us, but it’s also important to give them some love and moisture. If the backs of your hands feel stiff or itchy, get some hand cream on for instant relief.
Lip Balm:
EOS Lip Balm
This is a big essential for me. I cannot stand the feeling of chapped lips, and on the days I forget my lip balm, I’m not a very happy girl. It’s important to not over-do it with applying a lip balm or chap-stick, sometimes your lips become really dependent on it. But using it a few times a day will do wonders. I even apply Vaseline to my lips before I go to bed at night!
Cuticle Cream:
Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream
This one is sort of optional. If you already use hand cream, you can just work that into your cuticles as well. However, before I polish my nails, or just whenever my cuticles are feeling dry – I apply this to them and instantly start to look and feel better.
